We just started getting some great recipes and tips. Below are a few frugal tips we just received with more coming in each day:
Food Tips...
It pays to shop the sales...
Buy milk when it's on sale and then freeze it. Most folks do not realize you can freeze milk.
Save money and time...
Cook large batches of chicken and freeze. You can then shred some and dice some, saving quite a bit of time when you go to prepare a recipe
Keep school lunches cold...
Instead of buying an ice pack, put your child's juice box in the freezer over night. Just ensure that there is ample time for it to defrost by lunch time. This past year my son's class was among the first to go at 10:30!, so we then used a reusable drink container filled half full, which was frozen, then in the morning I finished filling it with drink so that it still kept things cool but was drinkable when he needed it to be.
Great use for leftover chicken...
Leftover chicken can be thrown into a crock pot with leftover salsa and whatever other "mexican" veggies on hand, like corn, beans, onion, cilantro. After it simmers for hours and the flavor melds, it is just fabulous as a taco filling!
Rachael Ray uses this one...
When preparing recipes it helps to keep a large bowl nearby for tossing in peels, empty containers, etc. It comes in handy and you don't have to constantly stop what you are doing to throw things away.
